Abstract

Over the past decade, significant progress has been made in the chemistry of transition metal complexes supported by multidentate chelate ligands, such as pincer-type ligands, in line with the development of active transition metal catalysts. This review summarizes recent progress in this area, with a focus on the incorporation of electropositive Group 13 (B, Al, Ga, and In) and Group 14 (Si and Ge) elements into the supporting multidentate ligands as coordinating atoms. These electropositive element-based ligands afford complexes with unique functionalities, such as remarkably strong σ-donor ability, high trans influence, and σ-acceptor ability, depending on the types of supporting ligands: L-type (2e donor), X-type (1e donor), and Z-type (2e acceptor) ligands. This review mainly covers the synthesis, fundamental properties, and catalysis of the complexes bearing these ligands.

(B, Al, Ga and In) 및 14족 (Si and Ge) 원소들의 지지하는 multidentate 리간드들과의 협응에 집중하여 배위 원자들로서의.

Lee et al. recently reported a nitrene group transfer reaction of a PSi(silyl)P-pincer-ligated dinuclear cobalt complex 100 with 1-azidoadamantane AdN3 via MLC. In this reaction, nitrene (:NAd) was inserted into the Co–Si bond of 100 to afford a dinuclear PN(amido)P-pincer complex 101. Treatment of 101 with CO(g) at room temperature led to the nitrene transfer to a CO molecule, affording a mononuclear PSiP-pincer dicarbonyl complex 102 and isocyanate AdNCO in high yields. Interestingly, in this reaction, cleavage of the Si–N bond readily occurs, to regenerate a Co–Si bond. Based on the above findings, a catalytic nitrene group transfer reaction of AdN3 with CO to afford AdNCO was achieved by use of 102 as a catalyst under photoirradiation.
